Stern Steel’s management team have played key roles in the steel industry from starting up several successful businesses, to executive positions with publicly traded steel firms.


Scott Sternheimer, CEO 
Scott is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Stern Steel LLC.  Stern Steel’s mission is to deliver to its customers the lowest cost supply chain by utilizing decades of steel industry experience, a worldwide network of steel mills, and best in class Steel Processing facilities located in geographically desirable locations.  Stern Steel’s strategy will attack freight costs and deliver “second to none” JIT services to its customers.  Scott has a proven track record of success in the steel industry over his nearly 20 year career.

Prior to founding Stern Steel, Scott served as the Executive Vice President of Sales for one of the largest steel service center brands in North America.  Scott’s responsibilities included initiating and implementing the company’s commercial strategy. Under Scott’s direction, the company consolidated four independently run sales teams into one dynamic group.  Scott’s strategy is widely credited with yielding growth north of 40% and annual revenues which exceeded $350 million during a time of market contraction in the manufacturing sector.

At the age of 29, Scott also co-founded what has now become the largest independent Electrogalvanizing Line in the world.  Scott’s vision, sales strategy and leadership helped transform the company from a small startup into the leader in its space.

Scott graduated from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.  He lives outside of Chicago, Illinois with his wife Stacy, and their two children.


Erick Kahn, Executive Vice President   312-804-2922
Erick is the Executive Vice President and co-founder of Stern Steel LLC.   At Stern Steel, Erick utilizes his strong relationship building skills to lead the firm’s business development program.

Prior to Stern Steel L.L.C., Erick was a Regional Sales Manager for one of the nation’s top service center chains.  Erick utilized his creativity and dynamic personality to develop mutually profitable relationships with his customers.  His unique approach generated tremendous growth in his territory.

For over 20 years Erick was the Vice President of Falcon Steel Processing Corporation.  Behind Erick’s leadership, Falcon Steel, a toll processing company, started with one small shear and grew into a highly respected Steel Sheet Processor known throughout the industry as producing steel sheets of the highest quality.

Erick graduated from the University of Arizona.  He lives outside of Chicago, Illinois with his wife Amy and 4 daughters.


Joshua A. Stein, CFO
Joshua is the CFO of Stern Steel, LLC.  His responsibilities include overseeing all accounting and financial activities for the Company, managing all banking and investor relations in addition to managing the Company’s internal controls. 

Joshua is the Founder of Stein Fleishman, LLC, a Chicago-based business advisory and capital formation firm specializing in new business formation, mergers & acquisitions, business valuation, income tax strategy and management consulting services.  Joshua is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois.  Joshua leads firm in the development of business plans and related financial projection models, acquisition structuring and due diligence.  Joshua also serves as an outside expert in connection with various corporate and personal litigation cases which has included the development of customized valuation models, forensic review of financial data in addition to the preparation of expert reports.  Joshua has successfully completed over 75 business transactions including the private placement of debt and equity, asset purchases through bankruptcy, tax-free asset transfers and reorganizations. 

Joshua was previously a Partner at a boutique M&A firm providing strategic management consulting services and tax planning to over 250 corporate clients.  Joshua was formerly a manager at Unext.com, an online university delivering quality graduate business degree and certificate programs worldwide. Unext.com content partners include Stanford University, University of Chicago, Columbia University and The London School of Economics.   Prior to his work at Unext.com, Joshua was a consultant in the Derivatives and Treasury Risk Management Group at Arthur Andersen LLP in Chicago.  He managed the development of the Risk Management Series, an interactive based executive training program. This unit was dedicated to developing highly specialized derivatives training in the currency, energy, fixed income and equity markets.  Joshua also assisted in several audit engagements of Fortune 100 Companies while at Arthur Andersen.  Joshua graduated from The Ohio State University in 1997.
